Who We Are
The Angels in the Outfield is a non-profit organization seeking to brighten the lives of children who have been impacted by crime, abuse and/or neglect by providing them with experience and opportunities they wouldn't otherwise have.
Our History
Founder and President, Shannon Kmetic, was a Deputy DA for the county of Clackamas at the time she founded The Angels in the Outfield. After successfully prosecuting the worst sexual abuse case in her career, she realized that more had to be done for this young victim and others like her. While she had won the case, she was left with the realization that "Ashley" was now without any parents at all and was about to face a long road of coping with her victimization. It was at that point that Shannon, who had experienced a happy, fulfilled childhood, wanted to share something with those that had not been as fortunate. Memories of happy hours spent on her softball team, coached by her loving father, prompted her to come up with the name for the organization. In 2009, along with many others who shared her compassion, Shannon launched The Angels in the Outfield. All monies raised by The Angels in the Outfield are used to fulfill requests.
WHO WE SERVE
We serve children of all ages up to 18 years old. They usually reside in single parent homes, foster homes or with grandparents. Some are homeless.
They are victims of crime or abuse (physical, sexual, emotional and neglect).
They are from all socio-economic levels, although many are predominantly from modest means.
We support each child by providing the means for items like tutoring, camp tuitions, sporting fees, lessons, equipment, school trips, technology, and experiences such as museum visits, recreation, parties, attending a sporting event or anything else that will help a child on his or her long journey of recovery.
